(1891) J. SOVEREIGN, manufacturer of wagons and buggies at Woodland, is the son of Richard and Elizabeth (Plummer) Sovereign. His father, a native of Pennsylvania, was a carpenter by trade; and his mother was a native of New Jersey; Mr. Sovereign was born in Canada, in 1833, and in 1845 he went to Illinois and learned his trade; and in 1860 he came to California and for the first seven years resided in El Dorado County; in 1861 he moved into Yolo County, where he has ever since remained. He is following his trade at Woodland, with signal success. He is a member of Woodland Lodge, No. 22, A. O. U. W., and also of the K. of P.
