Harvey Raye Canafax died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006 at Woodland Memorial Hospital 
at age 79.

Mrs. Canafax was born Feb. 7, 1926 to Alfred and Eutha (Strawn) Hamblen in 
Clarendon, Texas. She had been a Yolo County resident for 47 years. She 
attended school in the Clarendon area, later graduating with her Associate of 
Arts from Eastern New Mexico College. She was employed by UC Davis for more 
than 20 years as an administrative assistant and was a member of the Davis 
Senior Center and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include Mrs. Canafax's husband of 59 years, William A. Canafax of 
Davis; her daughters, Lynn Canafax of Rio Linda and Dianne Canafax and her 
husband John Albright of Kingston, Wash.; her son, Richard Canafax of Rio 
Linda; her granddaughter, DeeDee Lynn Bennett; and great-granddaughter Alexi 
Lynn Bennett both of Oceanside; her sister, Carol Kilchriste of Las Vegas; and 
her brothers, Stewart "Guy" Hamblen and William H. "Sonny" Hamblen both of 
Canyon, Texas.

The family requests memorials in Mrs. Canafax's name be directed to the Davis 
Senior Center, 646 A St., Davis, 95616; or Yolo County SPCA.

Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Pole 
Line Baptist Church, 770 Pole Line Road, Davis with a reception to follow in 
the Fellowship Hall. Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the 
family with arrangements.
