Ms. Carlson was born in French Camp and raised in Tracy, where she lived 19 years. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1973 and then lived in Stockton 32 years. She was a homemaker whose friends and family will remember her as a warm, sweet and caring person who had a smile for everyone and helped everyone she could. Though she had no children, Ms. Carlson enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and great-nephews, who will remember her infectious laugh. She had a deep affection for animals, especially cats and her Sheltie, Pepper. She also enjoyed baking cookies, especially using her grandfather’s oatmeal- applesauce recipe. Ms. Carlson is survived her longtime companion, Richard Enos of Stockton; mother, Betty Sue Shelly of Tracy; siblings, Karen “Sissy” Ibarra, and her husband, Miguel, of Tracy, Denise “DC” Kling, and her husband, Pat, of Coarsegold, Sherry Fryberger, and her husband, Rusty, of Murietta, Heather McBride of Santa Cruz, Jerry Shelly, and his wife, Mary, of Clovis, and James Shelly of Tracy; stepsiblings, Paula Hubbard of Yuba City and Steve Shelly, and his wife, Joyce, of Tracy; uncles, Clell Moon of San Francisco and, Bill Moon of Corvalis, Ore.; aunt, Pat Scherer, of Liberty Ind.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; Mr. Enos’ family, John and Cora Enos, Debbie and Dwight Wilson and Alice and Art Smith, all of Stockton; and dear friends, Cathy and Scott. She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Merle Carlson; grandparents, Elwood and Dorothy Moon; grandmother, Emily Rowe; and a brother, Dennis Carlson. The Jan. 17 memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave. Interment will be private. Contributions in Ms. Carlson’s name may be sent to a local animal shelter; or to McHenry House for the Homeless, 739 A. St., Tracy 95376. Published on Friday, December 30, 2005, in the Tracy Press.
