Evelyn Cooling died at her residence in Woodland, on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006 
at age 97.

Mrs. Cooling was born in South Wales, England to the late James and Sarah 
Elizabeth Williams on July 19, 1908. She was a long-time Yolo County farmer, a 
60-year member of Farmers Rice Cooperative and a 70-year member of Eastern 
Star. She was also a past member of White Nile and the Yolo County Farm 
Bureau. 

Survivors include Mrs. Cooling's daughter, Marilyn Kaupke, of Davis; her 
granddaughter, Deirdre Cross and her husband Brian; her great-grandchildren, 
Tyler and Amy Cross, all of Winters; and her sister, Penelope Thompson of 
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, 
John C. Cooling; her granddaughter, Diane Kaupke; her brothers, Henry and 
Rayden Williams; and her son-in-law, Charles Rominger Kaupke. 

The family requests memorials in Mrs. Cooling's name be directed to Yolo 
County Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617. 

Services: Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 at McNary's Chapel, 458 
College St., Woodland. A funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at 
St. John's United Church of Christ, 434 Cleveland Ave., Woodland. Interment 
will follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland. 
McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
