Mrs. Fritter was born in Delft, Minn. on April 12, 1914 to John P. and Elizabeth Harder Enns. She attended Mt. Olive Grade School and Reedley High School in California. At age 15, she was baptized and joined the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. She worked in the home of a Fresno doctor who encouraged her to go to Medical Assistants' School in San Francisco. Upon completion of her studies in 1940 she moved to Davis where she worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Leo Cronin for 37 years, until her retirement in 1977. She helped found the Sacramento Medical Assistants Association in 1950. She founded the Yolo County Medical Assistants Association in 1969, and was a charter member, state and national, of the American Medical Assistants Association. She was an honorary member of the Sacramento group at the time of her passing. As a member of the Davis Women's Service Club, she was active in Red Cross volunteer work during World War II, rolling bandages and furnishing refreshments at the local USO. She was a member of the Davis Community Church. Survivors include Mrs. Fritter's stepdaughter Sharon "Dianne" (Fritter) Hollingshead of Davis; her step-grandchildren, Luis "Kique" Escardo of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, Katerina Escardo Govoni of San Diego; her brother, Daniel Enns of Fresno; her nieces, Roberta Carter of Fresno and Evelyn Tolen of Southern California; and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Fritter of Hamilton City. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Louis A. Fritter; her sisters, Susan Klassen and Ann Kimball; and three siblings in infancy. The family requests that memorials in Mrs. Fritter's name be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617. Services: Interment is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 in the Reedley Community Cemetery, 2185 South Reed Ave., Reedley. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at the Davis Community Church, 412 C St., Davis. The Davis Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
