Germeshausen, Edward Joseph     
 
Longtime Woodland resident, Ed Germeshausen, died of natural causes on Nov. 1, 
2005 in Palm Desert at the age of 90.

Ed was the beloved father of Marilu Casino and husband Albert and Edward 
Joseph Germeshausen Jr. and wife Joan. He was also the loving grandfather of 
four and great-grandfather of six. Mary, his wife of 59 years died in 1995.

Ed, a third generation native of Woodland, was great-grandson of Yolo Brewery 
owners Joseph and Marie Selma (Beck) Germeshausen, and brother of the late 
Esther Todaro.

Ed graduated from Woodland High School in 1933 and joined the U.S. Postal 
Service in 1941. He worked at the Woodland Post Office for 32 years, rising 
from carrier to Postmaster, a position he held until his retirement in 1973.

Following his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Ed returned to Woodland 
was proud of his 61 year affiliation with the American Legion Post No. 77.

Ed and Mary were able to travel the world during their retirement and were 
active members of the Yolo Fliers Club as well as the Yolo County Historical 
Museum.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's 
Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Yolo Hospice, 
P.O. Box 1014, Davis 95617; VNA Hospice of Palm Desert, 42-600 Cook St., Suite 
202, Palm Desert, 92211; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
