Carl C. Milne

Carl Christian Milne died peacefully Sept. 9, 2002, with his family at his side.
Born Jan. 9 1925, in Kansas City, Mo., he was 77 years old. His young life was
spent in Nebraska and on cattle ranches in Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona with
his parents, Renee and Frank Milne.

The Milne family moved to Richmond in 1942. He met his wife-to-be, Bernice
Brown, in 1943 and the couple married in February 1944. They began their married
life in San Jose and in 1959, moved to Nevada City. In the grocery business for
30 years, he is most remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and constantly
beaming smile.

He enjoyed square dancing. When he did not have a construction project under way
at home, he could be found lending a hand to friends and family members. He was
a member of the Nevada City Masonic Lodge No. 13.

In 1975, he retired. He and his wife took to the road in their travel trailer to
tour the United States. Eventually, they settled down in Davis in 1990 where
they enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bernice; their daughter, Carla Knee and
her husband Rick of Davis; his grandson, Rich Knee III and his wife Desma of
Woodland; and two great-grandchildren, Vivian and Eli Knee of Woodland. He will
be greatly missed by all.
