Eugene C. Waters

Eugene C. Waters died suddenly on Aug. 24, 2002, in Davis. Born in Arcata on
Oct. 12, 1954, he was 47 years old.

The son of Floyd and Fusae Waters, he grew up in Eureka and attended the local
schools.

He worked in local mills before moving to Davis, where he became a self-employed
carpenter.

Although he lived in Davis for the past 20 years, his heart and his home was in
Humboldt County. One of his greatest joys was to come home and go fishing. He
had a great appreciation for nature. In addition to fishing, he enjoyed
gardening, cooking, camping, backpacking and spending time with family and
friends. He was very proud of his Japanese heritage.

His father, Floyd Waters, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his mother, Fusae Waters; his brothers, Danny and Donald
Waters; and his sister, Patty Botkin and her husband Joe, all of Eureka;
nephews, Jiro Waters and Alex Botkin of Eureka; and niece, Erica Botkin of Eureka.

He also leaves behind his childhood friend, Brett Chambers and his family of
Eureka, his extended family in Davis, Paul Budweiser and his family of Davis and
his friends in Eureka and Davis.

A devoted, son, brother and friend, he will be remembered for his big voice and
great enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is loved and will be sorely missed by his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the donor's
favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran
Church, 3230 Harrison Ave. in Eureka, one block off Harris at the corner of
Chester and Harrison.
