Robert E. Mitchell

Robert E. Mitchell died in Woodland Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at age 87.

Born March 15, 1917, in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Mitchell had been a Yolo County
resident for seven years. He attended schools in Texas and Chicago, and
graduated in Belmont High School in Los Angeles. He served the U.S. Army from
1941 to 1947 and earned five medals including Purple Heart from combat injuries.
He retired in 1978 as a machinist.

Survivors include his stepson, James McMullen and wife Carolyn of Davis;
grandsons, James McMullen Jr. of Redlands and Andy Hay of Davis; granddaughter,
Donna Choi of Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie J.
Mitchell.

The family requests memorials be directed to Sacramento Children's Receiving
Home. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.

Services: A graveside will be held at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, April 8, a Riverside
National Cemetery, with full military honors.
