Draughn died after a long struggle with ill health on June 7, 2002, at Sutter Davis Hospital. He was 69. He was born on June 17, 1932, in Hazard, Ky., to Rudy and Sara Draughn. He spent his childhood in Kentucky and moved to Chico, where he graduated from Chico High School in 1950. He worked for PG&E for 45 years and retired as a painting department supervisor at the Davis Service Center in 1997. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War era. He loved life and especially loved going to air shows, classic car shows and spending time in Lake Tahoe. He spent his retirement in South Lake Tahoe until October 2000, when he returned to Davis to be near his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, many dear friends, family and beloved dogs Maggie, Teeva and Shakespeare. He is survived by his three daughters: Debbie Wendland and her husband Ted of Thousand Oaks, Denise Faria and her husband Mike of Davis, and Diane Aguilera and her husband Dave of Davis. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Matthew and Jessica Wendland of Thousand Oaks, and Bonnie Faria and Christina Aguilera of Davis. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road, Davis.
