Fiddyment, Jr., a descendant of the pioneer Fiddyment family of Roseville, passed away at Woodland Memorial Hospital, Wednesday, March 17, 2004 of complications from CLL. Born Jan. 25, 1921 in Roseville, Ca. Russ attended Roseville schools, San Rafael Military Academy, UC Davis, and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1946. Russell raised turkeys on the family property in Roseville, and then entered the construction business building homes and apartments in Woodland and Davis with partner Ron Leineke and later Bruce Willoughby. Later he became a Real Estate Broker specializing in agricultural properties. He was a member of Rotary International, Woodland Elks Club, Yolo Fliers Club, UC Davis Chancellor's club and UC Alumni association. A pilot in his earlier days, he enjoyed spending time at the family home at Lake Tahoe, studying European history, and spending time with family and friends. He had a special interest in agricultural development in South America especially Brazil, where he traveled with his dear friend Jerry Harrington. He was known for his warm smile, friendly personality and always enjoyed a toast or two with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean Huff Fiddyment of Woodland; son Russell F. Fiddyment III and daughter Martha Ann Fiddyment of Carson City, Nevada, daughter Leslie Murphy and husband Marty of Belvidere, N.J.; stepchildren, Connie Peel of Sacramento, Stan Brown of Woodland, and Rick Brown and wife Betty of Homewood. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brothers David Fiddyment, John Fiddyment and sister Coralie Corin. Per Russ's wishes, the family invites friends to a party in his honor at the Yolo Fliers Club, 12980 Co Road 94B, Woodland, Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
