Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net September 6, 2004, 5:04 pm "The Davis Enterprise," Wednesday, April 17, 2002 William E. Ward William E. "Bill" Ward died April 12, 2002, at Woodland Memorial Hospital. He was 81. He was born in Vermillion, Kan., on Dec. 9, 1915, to the late Edwin L. and Leona M. (Hoover) Ward. A 55-year resident of Woodland, he started his career as a parts manager at Abele Motors in 1947 in Woodland, and continued to work there when the company changed ownership to Century Buick and Pontiac. He retired in 1988 after 41 years of service. He was a life member of the Woodland Elks Lodge No. 1299 and was an avid golfer and bowler. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cora MacDougal. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma L. Ward of Woodland; two sons, Richard Ward and his wife Diane of Truckee and David Ward of Woodland; four grandchildren, Emiley Simpson and her husband Ron, Kathleen Santiago and her husband James and Jed Ward and his wife Shelley, all of Woodland, and Chris Ward and his wife Racheal of Fort Lewis, Wash.; and four step-grandchildren, Patrick Hague of Woodland, Karen Holmes and her husband Jason of Bellington, Mass., and Jenna and Brooke Simpson of Woodland. Also surviving are his sister, Farrold Martin and her husband Woody of Sacramento, and numerous great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Monument Hill Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial gifts be directed to the American Red Cross, 120 Court St., Woodland, CA 95695.
