Bauer Services were held this morning at the Unitarian Church of Davis for Johanna R.G. Bauer, Ed.D., who died April 11, 2002, in Davis. Born Sept. 30, 1918, in Vienna, Austria, she was 83. A clinical psychologist, she was director of psychological services for the Davis Joint Unified School District for 20 years and ran a private psychotherapy practice in Davis. She helped start several special education programs, including one for severely emotionally disturbed children and another for gifted children, both of which served as state pilot programs. She was a member of the American Psychological Association, and was a busy community activist, striving always for peace and justice. She was honored with the C.A. Covell Trophy as Davis' Citizen of the Year. She is survived by her husband, Herbert Bauer, M.D., of Davis; her sons, Timothy Bauer, D.V.M., of Seattle and Christopher Bauer, Ph.D., of Nashville, Tenn.; a grandson, Jonathan of Los Angeles; and a granddaughter, Zoe of Nashville.
