Brown Longtime Davis resident Joseph Crawford Brown died of a blood clot to the heart on April 4, 2002, in his Davis home. He was 50. He was born on Feb. 21, 1952, in California. He graduated from Webb School in Claremont, and later attended UC Davis. He was a musician who played the piano and sang. He had a large repertoire of music that he could play in a variety of styles, but his specialty was boogie-woogie style music. He also played piano at the Whole Earth Festival at UC Davis. Additionally, he was always fascinated by ears, his brother Karl Brown said. In addition to his music, he enjoyed programming his Texas Instruments computer and was a member of the Texas Instruments Computer Club. He worked as a gardener and maintenance person, and for the Hunt-Wesson cannery in Davis for many years. He lived in Davis for 33 years, and resided on Haussler Drive for the past seven years. He will be greatly missed by his many friends in Davis. He is survived by his brothers, Karl A. Brown of Tiburon and Frank R. Brown of New York. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St., Davis. A private burial will take place at the Davis Cemetery.
