Doreen Nelson 

Doreen Nelson of Davis died on March 27, 2002, at Courtyard Health Care Center
in Davis. She was 75.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1926, in Leicester, England, to George and Susannah
Rose. She was raised in Leicester, where she met and married her husband, Renold
S. Nelson, in 1945. She and her husband came to California in March 1946 and
settled in Eureka, where the couple lived until moving to Davis in 1950.

She was described by her family as devoted, and involved with her family and
their activities. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her son, Regan Nelson; brothers George, Jim and
John Rose; and sisters Gladys Coleman and Gertrude Doyle.

She is survived by her husband, who resides in Davis; daughter Ann Learnon and
her husband Chuck of Davis; daughter Laurie Stafford and her husband Paul of
Modesto; stepson Darwin Nelson and his wife Kaye of Corpus Christi, Texas;
grandchildren Shanie Jeffries of West Sacramento, Carrie Leamon of San Diego,
Bryan Stafford of Davis, and Jennifer Stafford of Davis; and step-grandchildren
John and Michael Nelson of Corpus Christi.

She is also survived by her brother Albert Rose of Leicester; niece Mavis Bent
of England; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins living in England.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at
the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road, Davis. Remembrances may be made in
Nelson's name to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd.,
Sacramento, CA 95817.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
