Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net September 16, 2004, 11:35 pm “Winters Express,” Thursday, October 17, 1991 Lendel Coleson Taylor Graveside rites held here for Lendel Taylor Graveside services were held in the Winters Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday for Lendel Coleson Taylor, 81, of Sacramento, who died Oct. 8, in a Sacramento Hospital. He was a retired State Police Officer and a third-generation Winters native. His father, George Taylor, who died in November 1948, was the sexton at the Winters Cemetery. Lendel was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army as a military policeman. After retiring from the Army as a first sergeant, he worked for 20 years with the State Police, retiring for the second time in 1971 as a sergeant. He was a member of the California State Police Association and a Sacramento resident for more than 40 years. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Pauline, and sons, George Len and Samuel “Glen” Taylor, all of Sacramento, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rollin Haile Taylor.
