Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net September 17, 2004, 12:31 am “Winters Express,” Thursday, August 11, 1988 Velma Beatrice Callison Velma Callison dies August 9 Velma Beatrice Callison, who was born in Scammon, Kansas, January 25, 1912, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Woodland Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Callison who moved to Winters in 1942 and was a homemaker all her adult life, was the widow of Rev. W. H. Callison, who died at Davis Nov. 12, 1972. She is survived by their children: Gary Callison of Winters; Betty Bickham of Winters; Wilma Dean Quintero of Vacaville, Don Callison of Vacaville, Jack Callison of Oxnard. Another son, Arthur Callison, died February 29, 1988. Also surviving Mrs. Callison is her brother, Melvin Gwin of Delhi, California, and five sisters: Sadie Spence of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Ruby Fish of Randle, Washington; Florence McLaughlin of Winters; Ruth Adams of Flint, Texas; and Virginia Miller of Cleveland, Oklahoma. In addition, Mrs. Callison is survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Callison was a long time member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Winters. Visitation will be today, Aug. 11, from 509 p.m. at Smith’s Colonial Chapel. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service Friday, Aug. 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church at Haven and Edwards streets, with burial to follow at the Winters Cemetery.
