Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net September 18, 2004, 11:59 pm “Winters Express,” Thursday, August 22, 1985 Vernon Edward “Blacky” Bruhn Services Monday for ‘Blacky’ Bruhn Funeral services were held on Monday for Vernon Edward “Blacky” Bruhn, 81, who died at Sierra Health Care Convalescent Hospital in Davis on August 14. Rev. John L. Reimers officiated at the services held at Smith’s Colonial Chapel. Mr. Bruhn was a native of Winters, born October 22, 1903. He was a volunteer fireman for 30 years and served as assistant fire chief from 1930 to 1947. A life-time farmer, he worked as foreman for Button’s Ranch for over 20 years and farmed on his own in the Wolfskill District previous to that. Survivors include his wife, Lucille L. Bruhn, of the family home in Winters; two sons, Vernon C. Bruhn of Winters and Milton S. Bruhn of Maxwell; a brother, Clyde Bruhn of Sacramento; a sister, Beryl Harrington of Winters; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The family prefers remembrances be memorial contributions to the Winters Community Center. Interment took place in the Winters Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stuart Bruhn, Tom Ehnat, Vernon E.
