Daisy Rhodes

Funeral today for Daisy Rhodes

Eastern Star Funeral Rites will be held today at 11 a.m. at Smith’s Colonial
Chapel in Winters for Daisy Margaret Elizabeth Rhodes, 91, who died in Davis
Monday, May 9.  Burial will follow immediately in the Winters Cemetery.

A long-time Winters resident, Mrs. Rhodes was born in Pennsylvania on February
6, 1897.  She came to Winters in 1919 and worked as a store clerk at Day’s Drug
Store from 1944-84 when she retired.  

She was a past matron and over 50 year member of former Yosolano Chapter of the
Order of the Eastern Star of Winters.  The chapter has since merged with the
Esparto chapter and is now known as the Esparto Grafton Chapter, No. 218, Order
of the Eastern Star of Esparto.

She was also a member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft.

Mrs. Rhodes was the widow of L. Minard Rhodes who died in Winters in 1944.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Earle Rhodes, in 1987.

Mrs. Rhodes is survived by her step-grandchildren, Shirley Ames of Bodega Bay,
David Rhodes of Hood River, Oregon and Michael Rhodes of Placerville.

Mrs. Rhodes also leaves behind her first cousins Judge Murle Schreck of El
Macero, Ruth Eleanor Penzotti, Orval Schreck, Paul Schreck, Elizabeth Barnes,
all of Sacramento and Irene Thompson of Hilt.

She is also survived by five nieces and nephews.
