Napa man dies from shotgun blast

Barnette Elsworth Greenhow, Jr., 39, of Napa, died in Sutter Davis Hospital last
Thursday afternoon from what authorities said was a self-inflicted shotgun wound
in the chest.

He had been staying with his sister, Mary Catherine Radcliffe, on Abbey Street,
and shortly afternoon Thursday, while she was sleeping on the couch, she heard a
gun go off and went to Barnette’s room, where she found him on the bed with
chest wounds and a 16-gauge shotgun nearby.

She called 911, and police and ambulance arrived.  Barnette was rushed to Sutter
Davis Hospital where he died.

No funeral services are planned.
