Bessie H. Griffin

Funeral services held on Monday for Bessie H. Griffin

Funeral services were held Monday morning, Oct. 15, at Pioneer Presbyterian
Church for Mrs. Bessie H. Griffin, 84.  Pallbearers were William A. Chapman,
Robert L. Button Jr., James D. Jarrett, Louis W. Ichtertz Jr., G. William Gray
and George W. Griffin.  Interment followed in the Winters Cemetery.  Reverend
Keith Knauf officiated at the services; the organist was Doris Gray.  Also
taking part in the services were members of Yosolano Chapter #218 Order of the
Eastern Star of Winters.  Smith’s Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Griffin was born May 12, 1906, in Madison, California; she died in
Woodland, Wednesday, Oct. 10.  She was a homemaker and lived on the Griffin
Ranch near Winters for the past 63 years.  She was a member of the Pioneer
Presbyterian Church of Winters, a member for over 50 years and a Past Matron two
times in Yosolano Chapter 218 Order of the Eastern Star of Winters, a member of
Menzalch Temple #16 Daughters of the Nile in Sacramento, and a longtime member
of the Yolo County Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Griffin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Shirlee
Griffin of Winters, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was
preceded in death by her husband, George M. Griffin, who died in Woodland in 1961.

The family prefers that memorials in her memory be made to the scholarship fund
of Winters Rotary Club or to the donor’s favorite charity.
