Phyllis E. Penn

Phyllis E. Penn of Davis died June 1, 2004. She was 86.

Born Aug. 2, 1917, in Davis, she was the daughter of Charles Roos and Myrtle
Fritz Roos. Raised in Davis, she attended local schools and graduated from Davis
High School in 1935. She worked for California Western State Life Insurance in
Sacramento for 40 years until her retirement.

She maintained her home on I Street in Davis for many years, and belonged to the
Library Club, Tremont Society and Davis Community Church.

In 1988, she helped to organize an event celebrating the history of the old
houses, such as Hunt House, in the historic East Davis neighborhood.

Despite having been ill for four years, she maintained her great smile and sense
of humor throughout, a relative said.

At her request, there will be no service. A private interment service will be
held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Sacramento. Arrangements are under the direction
of Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland.

Remembrances in her name may be sent to Davis Community Church, 412 C St.,
Davis, CA 95616.
