Emily Elmina Rustin

Former local teacher dies

Emily Elmina Rustin, 76, a school teacher with the Winters Joint Unified School
District from 1964 to 1971, died March 31, 1991, in her home in Monterey.

Born February 10, 1915 in Rochelle, Illinois, she moved to Monterey 15 years
ago, where she was active in the Senior Citizens Club and her church thrift store.

A memorial service was held April 7 at St. Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in
Pacific Grove.  Cremation was at the Little Chapel by the Sea, with ashes to be
scattered at sea.

Mrs. Rustin is survived by two sons, Commander Mike Reynolds of Watsonville, and
Dr. Thomas Reynolds of Charlotte, North Carolina; a brother, Edmond Scheer of
Tallahassee, Florida and a granddaughter.

Her first husband, Jack Reynolds, died in 1977, and her second husband, John
Rustin, passed away in 1986.
