Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net October 4, 2004, 11:11 pm “Winters Express,” Thursday, August 17, 1989 Ralph Waldo Chapman Graveside services held Tuesday for Ralph Waldo Chapman Graveside services were held at the Winters Cemetery on Tuesday morning for Ralph Waldo Chapman, 81, who died at Sutter Davis Hospital on Aug. 12. Ralph was a long-time rancher and in later years ran the Yolo County Fishing Access areas along Putah Creek. He was a resident of Winters all of his life. Mr. Chapman was born in Winters on May 17, 1908, the grandson of George Walker Chapman, an early Yolo County settler. He was son of J. W. and Georgia Abby Chapman. Ralph was the brother of the late J. R. Chapman and the uncle of Winters Mayor Robert Chapman. He was a graduate of Winters High School and Heald Business College. He was a member of the Winters Rotary Club, a Native Son of the Golden West, and a member of the Good Shepherd Church in Davis. Survivors include his wife, Esther May Chapman of Winters; sons, Ralph Duren Chapman of Fairfield, Bradley James Chapman of Black River, New York, Bruce Donald Chapman of Davis and Robert Belmont of Stockton; a daughter, Joann Ingles of Winters; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Chapman Klaich, who died on May 18, 1986. Smith’s Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
