David A. Jones

David Allen Jones died on April 24, 2004, at Sutter Davis Hospital after a long
illness. He was 66 years old.

Born Jan. 15, 1938, in Brawley, he was raised in Hickman and attended Hughson
High School. He moved to Placerville, where he worked for Wetzel-Oviat Lumber
for 10 years and then moved to Dixon, where he worked for UC Davis as a senior
mechanic for 25 years until his retirement in 1991.

After retiring, he moved back to Placerville, where he lived until 1998. Due to
his illness, he returned to Dixon to live with his family.

He enjoyed softball, sailing, golfing, gardening and music.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Jones and his wife Becky, and Shaun Jones of
Dixon; a sister, Kay Barnes and her husband Jary of Hickman; two brothers, Dale
Jones and his wife Solvieg and Gary Jones and his wife Marilyn, all of
Placerville; six grandchildren, Katie Hartley, Brandon and Courtney Jones, and
Erin, Heather and Jerrod Filbert; and, one great-grandchild, Aubree Cardin, all
of Dixon.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 16, at 2443 Nowalk Drive in
Diamond Springs. The Rev. Dick Smith will preside.
