Born Sept. 5,1918, in Woodland, Mrs. Rowland was the daughter of Carroll and Leila (Baylis) Ray. A Yolo County resident since birth, she worked for the law firm of Chalmers, Sands, and Gardner as a legal secretary for 20 years, and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, as well as past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Woodland and Knights Landing. Mrs. Rowland is survived by her daughter Martha H Coppes and husband Chuck of Grants Pass, Oregon; son Richard Rowland and wife Gretchen of Danville, sister Isabel Dolan of Woodland; grandson John T. Shone and wife April of Ione; granddaughter, Stephani S. Shone; and great-grandchildren Kristina, Jake and Austin Shone. She was preceded in death by husband L.C. Rowland in 1974. Services are scheduled for noon Thursday, Jan. 10, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 515 Second St., Woodland, with the Rev. David Affleck officiating. Internment will follow immediately.
