Peyton died in her Woodland home surrounded by her family, at age 87. Born Jan. 3, 1915, in Leadhill, Ark., Mrs. Peyton was the daughter of Eugene and Minnie Fain. She and her family moved to California in 1937, first settling in the Chico area and later moving to Sutter Basin, where she lived until 1948 before moving to Woodland. She was the owner/manager of the Court Cafe, which still stands on East Street. She worked at the Fashion for many years and later became one of the first women Real Estate Agents in Woodland. According to her family members, "she loved her family and home." Mrs. Peyton is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert B. Peyton; children, Lewis D. Patterson of Oroville, Joyce Hunter of Woodland, Rex Patterson and wife Joni of Loma Rica, Beverly Harris of Woodland, and stepchildren, Judy Leddy, Beverly Bailey, and Barbara Peyton; grandchildren, Robert L. Campbell, Carla E. Coulter, Cindy M. Todd, Ronald J. Patterson, Teri Silva, Larry Fitzgerald, Darren Fitzgerald, Tim Stumpf, Danielle Alarcon, Gay Lynn Duncan, Kimberly Patterson, Lisa Gray, Mark Soga, Jim Leddy and Sterling Bailey; 28 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by his sisters, Phyllis J. Gabler, and Dora M. Bell; and brother, John C. Fain. Mrs. Peyton was preceded in death by her sister, Audrey Fain; and brothers, Nicholas Homer, Jack, Fred and Paul Fain. A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. today Friday, Feb. 1, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
