Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net and Judith Hinton November 1, 2004, 9:47 pm Woodland "Daily Democrat," Tuesday, February 05, 2002 Leona (Lee) Elaine Hall Evans Leona (Lee) Elaine Hall Evans died after a lengthy illness at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at age 84. Mrs. Evans was born May 30, 1918, in Bloomington, Indiana to Lowell and Ada Hall. She was the second youngest of 10 children. Mrs. Evans was raised in Olney, Ill. where she attended school through high school graduation. She came to California in December, 1942. She met her husband Edward Spaulding Evans, on New Years Eve, 1943. They were married Oct., 25, 1945 at Fort Lewis, Washington. Mr. Evans was a career army officer who served many posts. As a military wife, Mrs. Evans accompanied her husband to various posts throughout the United States and a total of eight years in Germany. During Mr. Evan's second tour of duty in Vietnam, she and her son Jeffrey settled in Woodland in December, 1971, after living three years in Worms and Schweinfurt Germany. In 1974, Mrs. Evans began a career in real-estate. She was associated with Coldwell Banker-Arnold Real Estate for 13 years. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Yolo Fliers Club, attended St. Johns United Church of Christ and was a member of the Yolo County Board of Realtors. According to her family, she enjoyed traveling and entertaining. Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward Spaulding Evans, of Woodland; son, Edward Jeffrey Evans and wife Margaret of Beufort, S.C.; granddaughter, Amelia Hall Evans, also of Beufort; sister Audrey Knoll of Greenville, S.C.; brother in law, J. Robert Clarkson of Reno, Nevada; brother-in law, James M. Spaulding and family of Whittier, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled at St. Johns United Church of Christ at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 8. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
