Jesus (Jesse) Mercado

Jesus (Jesse) Mercado died following a lengthy illness in Woodland Memorial
Hospital Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at age 56.

Born Sept. 19, 1945, in Mezquitic, Mexico, Mr. Mercado came to Woodland in the
early 1960s and had been a resident since. He was employed by Yolo County
Housing Authority for 29 years prior to his retirement in 1999. According to his
family members, "he enjoyed traveling to Mexico to visit his family and spending
time with his two grandsons."

Mr. Mercado is survived by his children, Sonia Mercado and Sophia Mercado, both
of Sacramento; and grandsons, Anthony Mercado and Mateo Ramirez. 

He is also survived by his mother, Enriqueta Macias Mercado of Guadalajara,
Mexico; sisters, Rosa of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Yolanda of Long Beach; and
companion, Anna Olmedo.

Mr. Mercado was preceded in death by his father, Baltazar Mercado of
Guadalajara, Mexico.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, with a vigil to
follow at 7 p.m., at McNary's Chapel, Woodland.

Respecting the wishes of Mr. Mercado, burial services will be in Guadalajara,
Mexico.

The family requests memorials be directed to Woodland Healthcare Foundation.

McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
