Vides died on Tuesday Feb. 12, 2002 at his residence in Woodland. A native of El Salvador, he was born on March 26, 1923 to Miguel and Esther (Bolanes) Vides. Mr. Vides attended schools in El Salvador and later, coming to the United States in 1943, attended a junior college in San Francisco. He worked at various trucking companies as rate clerk for most of his life. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local #586; having been a member for 26 years prior to retiring. After retiring he pursued interests in computer science according to his family. Mr. Vides volunteered his talents in local Daly City Schools Adult Education program as assistant instructor for English as a second language. According to his family Mr. Vides was a strong believer in the power of education. He remained connected with his heritage and visited his home country as often as possible. A previous resident of Daly City, he moved to Woodland two years ago. While in Woodland he was active in the Senior Center Activities and was a parishioner at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mr. Vides is survived by his wife, Maria (Saade) Vides of Woodland. Also surviving Mr. Vides are his daughters, Marta Vides De Gonzalez and her husband Angel of San Francisco; Maria Elena Romero and her companion Blake Rushworth of Davis; and Nannette Vides of El Sobrante. He is also survived by his sisters Lucy Ayala of Redwood City and Aida Vides of San Francisco. Grandchildren Joseph Anthony Romero, USN Submariner at Kingsbay, Georgia; Elena Christina Romero of Davis; and Gabriel Roberto Rios of El Sobrante. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A requiem mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Woodland. Friends are welcome for visitation Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 from 10 a.m. to noon at Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors, 175 Second Street, Woodland. The family requests any donations in Armando's memory be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or Yolo County Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, Ca, 95617-1014. Kraft Bros.
