Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net June 11, 2004, 2:50 pm "Winters Express," Thursday, February 5, 2004 Kenneth Arnold Harris Kenneth Arnold Harris passed away unexpectedly at David Grant Hospital, Travis Air Force Base, on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at the age of 80. Born on Aug. 8, 1923 in Gaffney, South Carolina, to Raleigh and Laura Harris, he was raised in Chesnee, South Carolina, where he graduated from high school in 1941. Kenneth served his country in the Army during World War II. He participated in Europe, seeing action D-Day and later serving in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, Kenneth attended Clemson University, after which he joined the United States Air Force, eventually serving in Europe and Vietnam. He retired at Travis Air Force Base in 1966 where he took a civil service position in 1967 and later retired in 1986 in Fairfield. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathryn C. Harris; four sons, Robert and his wife Patricia of Woodland, Richard and his wife Susan, and George and his wife Robin, all of Winters, and Kenneth, Jr. and his wife, Deena, of Davis; also grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kylie and Quinci Harris, Dawn Van Dyke and her husband Patrick, Richard Harris, Bryan, Andrea and Elizabeth Harris and Reid and Sawyer Harris; and great-grandchildren, Alexess and Max Van Dyke and Cody Harris. He is also survived by a brother Clellan, of Chesnee, South Carolina and a sister, Susan, of Columbia, South Carolina. Kenneth will be interred at the Winters Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at 2 p.m., with full military honors. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
