Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net June 14, 2004, 12:44 pm "Winters Express," Thursday, January 1, 2004 Roy Harry Haleen, Sr. Roy Harry Haleen Sr. passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2003 at Woodland Memorial Hospital. He was born February 2, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended area schools graduating from North High School, and attended Gustavus Adalphus College. Mr. Haleen was a veteran of W. W. II. serving in the United States army from 1944-46, earning the Bronze Medal as an armored tank driver. He resided in Winters until his retirement from Pacific Bell, after a career as a telephone line technician for 32 years. He played the accordion, and was an avid ice skater, having met his future wife while skating. His wife of 52 years Gloria Haleen of Woodland; sons Ray Haleen and wife Teresa of Alta, CA, and Ken Haleen and wife Sherry of Winters survive him. Also surviving are Grandchildren Kris and Nicholas Haleen of Davis, and Matthew Haleen of Winters of Winters. He was preceded in death by brothers Fred and Phil Haleen, as well as sister’s Lilly Magnussen, and Eunice Halonen. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the charity of the donor’s choice in his memory. Private family services are to be held at a later date.
