Robert E. Mitchell

Robert E. Mitchell of Woodland died March 30, 2004, at Woodland Memorial
Hospital. He was 87.

Born March 15, 1917, in Dallas, he attended schools in Texas and Chicago before
graduating from Belmont High School in Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Army
from 1941-47, earning five medals, including a Purple Heart after suffering
combat injuries.

He retired in 1978 as a machinist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie J. Mitchell.

He is survived by his stepson, James McMullen and his wife, Carolyn, of Davis;
grandsons, James McMullen Jr. of Redlands and Andy Hay of Davis; and
granddaughter, Donna Choi of Los Angeles.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 1:45 p.m. Thursday
at Riverside National Cemetery.

Memorials in the name of the deceased may be sent to Children's Receiving Home
of Sacramento, 3555 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento CA 95821.

McNary's Chapel of Woodland is in charge of arrangements.
