Mark A. Stefani

Mark A. Stefani, a lifelong Yolo County resident, died March 30, 2004, at Sierra
Health Care in Davis. He was 86.

Born June 3, 1917, in Vacaville, he was the son of Marco and Minnie Stefani. He
attended Davis schools, graduating from Davis High School in 1935.

He worked on the family farm now known as Willowbank in South Davis.

He also served in the U.S. Army, as a tank warfare instructor at Fort Knox in
Kentucky and as a tank commander under Gen. George Patton in the Fourth Armored
Division, Third Army, in Europe.

He retired from the architecture and engineering department as a senior
construction inspector for UC Davis and the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

He was a member of the Davis Host Lions Club, serving as president and
secretary. He also served as deputy District 4 C-5 governor of the clubs and was
president of the Lions Sight Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Stefani, and sisters, Louise Calori
and Irma Stefani.

He is survived by his son, Mark Stefani Jr. and his wife, Jean; granddaughter,
Jennifer Van Court and her husband Lance; great-grandchildren, Victoria and
Boris Van Court; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. The
rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic
Church, 200 W. 14th St. in Davis, with interment to follow at Davis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the name of
the deceased to Northern California Lions Sight Association, P.O. Box 8033,
Woodland CA 95776.
