(Bill) Frost died in his Suisun home Sunday, March 10, 2002, at age 79. Born March 9, 1923, in Napa, Mr. Frost grew up on Van Sickle Island and attended school in Rio Vista. He served in the U.S. Army in North Africa during World War II. Following a honorable discharge, he worked for PG&E and the Department of Corrections before establishing Frost Construction company in 1960s. He built levees and irrigation systems throughout the Suisun Marsh and raised beef cattle in Solano, Colusa and Yolo Counties. He loved the Suisun Marsh and served on several committees to help protect it. In 1955, he flew to Washington to testify on behalf of the Suisun Marsh before the Senate Arms services committee in protest of the Army's plans to turn parts of the Suisun Marsh into an ammunition depot. He loved to deer and duck hunt and enjoyed flying his own plane for many years. He traveled extensively throughout his retirement especially enjoying cruises to alaska. He was the past director member of the Suisun Resource Conservation District. He was also a former Fire Commissioner for the Suisun Fire District. Mr. Frost is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Vaughan Frost of Suisun; sons, Bob Frost and wife Diane of Woodland, Jim Frost and his long time friend, Connie Read of Brooks and Mike Frost of Fairfield; grandchildren, Robin and Jennifer Frost of Suisun, Sara Frost of Concord, Leslie Frost of Rohnert Park and Karli Frost of Woodland; sisters, Effie Beer of San Jose, Ida Freitas of Crescent City and June Bekker of Napa; brother, Jack Frost of Salt Point; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be conducted privately. A funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 14, in Shiloh Church, Shiloh Rd. off Hi-way 12, Suisun, with a burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery, Suisun. The family requests memorials be directed to Northbay Medical Center Hospice, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield, 94533; or the charity of the donor's choice.
