Born Sept. 15, 1926, in Leicester, England, Mrs. Nelson was the daughter of the late George and Susannah Rose. She was raised in Leicester, where she met and married her husband in 1945. She and her husband came to the U.S. in March of 1946 settling in Eureka, where the couple lived until moving to Davis in 1950. According to her family members, "she was devoted and involved with the family and their activities. She enjoyed knitting and sewing." Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband, Renold S. Nelson of Davis; children, Ann Leamon and husband Chuck of Davis, Laurie Stafford and husband Paul of Modesto; stepson, Darwin Nelson and wife Kaye of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Shanie Jefferies of West Sacramento, Carrie Leamon of San Diego, Bryan Stafford of Davis, and Jennifer Stafford of Davis, and stepgrandchildren, John and Michael Nelson of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Albert Rose of Leicester, England; niece, Mavis Bent of England and numerous other nieces; nephews and cousins in England. She was preceded in death by her son, Regan Nelson; and her brothers and sisters, Gladys Coleman, Gertrude Doyle, George, Jim and John Rose. A graveside service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Friday, March 29, at Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road, Davis. The family requests memorials be directed to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, 95817, in her behalf. Davis Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
