Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net and Judith Hinton November 18, 2004, 10:49 pm Woodland "Daily Democrat," Tuesday, April 02, 2002 Ruth Mast Ruth Mast died in a convalescent hospital in Oroville, Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at age 101. Born Oct. 27, 1900, in Lakeview, Minn., Mrs. Mast was longtime Esparto resident. She taught school in Minnesota prior to her marriage to Floris E. Mast on Sept. 13, 1924. She received her teaching credentials at Minnesota Normal School and a bachelor of arts degree from Sacramento State University. In 1942 she began teaching at Clover School in western Yolo County and later at Esparto Elementary School until her retirement in 1968. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Esparto Study Club, the Merry-Go-Round Club, and the Esparto Countryside Community Church. She loved living on her ranch for over 70 years, gardening, cooking, and having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit. She is lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family, friends, and former students. Mrs. Mast and her late husband Floris have three children, Edward Mast and wife Marilyn of Esparto, Walter Mast of Oakland, and Wilma Hill and husband Jim of Oroville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Linda Souza and husband Dennis of Woodland, Marcia Scott and husband Glen of Haines, Alaska, John Mast and wife Laura of Woodland, Alisa Stephens-Jones and husband Ray of Granite Bay, Mary Stephens-Bell of Seattle, Wash., and Martha Braaten, and husband Gary of Oroville; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at Esparto Countryside Community Church, 26479 Grafton St., Esparto. The family requests memorials be directed to Countryside Community Church, Esparto. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
