Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net June 28, 2004, 6:32 pm Woodland "Daily Democrat," Monday, February 02, 2004 Elizabeth Hoffmann (1st of 2 obituaries) Elizabeth Dorethea Hunziker Hoffmann died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at her residence in Woodland. She was born in Pomeroy, Ohio, Dec. 31, 1916 and was 87 years of age. Her parents were the late Rev. C.H.S. Hunziker and Lucy Arras Hunziker. She attended elementary school in Prospect, Ohio and high school in Anaheim, Ca., junior college at Fullerton Junior College, and graduated from U.C.L.A. with a major in Music. She taught choral music at Anaheim Union High School. In 1945 she married Rev. Elmer Hoffmann who served congregations in Powellsville, Ohio, Stockton, Bellflower, and Woodland where they served for 23 years. In each congregation that her husband served, Elizabeth was active in the music program of the church, serving in various positions as organist, junior and senior choir director as well as Bible study leader and speaker at women's retreats. She taught piano, organ and voice for many years and gave many Organ recitals and concerts in various churches. Elizabeth was President of Minister's Wives Fellowship of Woodland that met regularly, and sponsored many inter church musicales. She will be remembered for her emphasis upon music, a major art of her life in bringing joy, satisfaction and inspiration and also an important out let of her Christian Faith. The Hoffmann's had three children who survive, that attended Woodland schools and were active in music and drama productions of the schools. Norman Hoffmann and his wife Jean of Monterey, Miriam Hoffmann of Truckee and Rev. Gregory Hoffmann and his wife Cindy of San Diego. Grandchildren are Sean and his wife Michelle of Yardley, Pa., Brian and his wife April of Santa Barbara, Nathaniel of Azusa Pacific University, and Garrett and Melyssa of San Diego. Also surviving are a sister in law, Mary Heinze of Stockton and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Elmer Hoffmann, Nov. 7, 2003. A visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, 6 to 8 p.m. at McNary's Chapel. Funeral services will be in the American Lutheran Church, 1114 College St., Woodland, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Family would prefer memorials in form of donations to the American Lutheran Church Missions; or the American Cancer Society. (A photograph of Elizabeth Hoffman is included with this obituary.)
