Born Dec. 17, 1906, in Kincaid, Kan., Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late William Henry and Frances (Mealman) Lake. She moved with her family to California in 1912 and had been a Yolo County resident since 1925. She had been a homemaker all her adult life. Survivors include her daughters, Edna Long of Penn Valley, Ethel Johnston of Woodland, and Edith Anderson and husband Jack of El Macero; and son, Roger Smith of New Plymouth, Idaho; grandchildren, Marsha Hovey and husband Roy of Morgan Hill, David Parrott and wife Jennifer of Oakley, Scott Johnston and wife Sheila of Woodland, Craig Smith and wife Cindy of Las Vegas, Linda Stewart of Carson City, Lauralee Boyle and husband Keith of Sacramento, Lisa Johnston and husband Mark of Woodland, Lana Maeder and husband Herb of Meadow Vista, and John Anderson and wife Lisa of Sacramento; sister, Julia Gamble of Hanford; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay C. Smith, in 1964; sons-in-law, Bill Johnston, in 1992, and Ivan Long, in 2002; and grandsons, Kirk Johnston, in 2003. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland. Services: Services will be conducted privately.
