Tauzer died of cancer in his family-ranch home near Davis Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at age 83. Born, Jan. 27, 1920, in the Willow Slough district of Yolo County, to the late George W. and Roberts (Pettygrove) Tauzer, he had been a lifelong Yolo County resident. He was a 1938 graduate of Woodland High School and served in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army during World War II, earning the Silver Lifesaving Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He returned home to attend UC Davis and take up his lifelong career of ranching. He served as a volunteer fireman in the Plainfield and Springlake fire districts; and as a member of Yolo County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Suzanne Tauzer of Davis; daughter, Susie Tauzer of Woodland; son, Ted Tauzer and wife Shelley of Davis; and grandchildren, Jeremy, Todd, Bryan, Amy and Stephanie. Also surviving are his stepdaughters, Andrea Brewer of Fair Oaks, and Linda Gilson of Boulder Creek; sisters, Nadine Burns and husband Don of Dallas, and Marlene Federwitz and husband Don of Sacramento; brothers, George Tauzer and wife Janet of Santa Rosa, and Robert Tauzer and wife Dolores of Pollock Pines; and sister-in-law, Mary Tauzer of Korbel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne M. (Burley) Tauzer, in 1970; granddaughter, Tracey Tauzer; and brother, Edwin Tauzer. Service: A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Grace Valley Christian Center, 27173 CR 98, Davis.
