Frank A. Salaiz

Frank Alvarado Salaiz, a Yolo County resident for 40 years, died unexpectedly
March 21, 2004, at Woodland Memorial Hospital. He was 62.

Born Sept. 11, 1941, in Auburn, to Juan and Mary Salaiz, he grew up in Colfax
and attended area elementary schools. He later moved to Yolo County, where he
graduated with the Pierce High School class of 1959. He attended Yuba College
prior to enrolling at UC Berkeley.

He went on to work as a bilingual education teacher and as a dispatcher for the
Yuba College Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ben Monroy, in 1993.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Salaiz of Woodland, Connie Roach and her
husband Mike of Woodland and Nancy Hockman and her husband Steve of Yelm, Wash.;
sisters, Pat Frazier of Dunnigan, Betty Pena of Mesa, Ariz., and Jeanette
Roberts of Rocklin; brothers, Max Salaiz of Auburn, Joe Salaiz of Colton, Jess
Salaiz of San Diego, Simon Monroy of Montebello and Carl Monroy of Sacramento;
grandchildren, Jonathan and Christopher Holden, both of Woodland, and Mehgan
Hockman of Yelm; close family friend Jerry Holden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Cemetery in
Woodland, with the Revs. John Boll and Randy Vaughan officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland.
