Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net January 7, 2005, 12:56 am "Winters Express," (print edition) Thursday, September 23, 2004 Gorda Ott Hoobyar Gorda Ott Hoobyar passed away on Sept. 16, 2004, after an extended illness. Gorda was born on Feb. 9, 1914 in Cashmere, Washington, to John and Anna Ott. She moved with her family to Live Oak, in 1918. Gorda graduated from Mt. Zion Hospital’s nurses training program in 1935 as a registered nurse. Her career culminated after 22 years working the student health center at San Francisco State University, from which she retired. Gorda and her husband of 67 years, David Hoobyar, retired to the Winters area in 1979, residing at Pardehsa Acres. She was accomplished in handicrafts, including knitting, weaving, needlepoint and sewing and was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker in addition to her professional career. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David; two children Corrinne Baker and Paul Hoobyar; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of Gorda’s life will be held on Oct. 16, at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gorda’s name may be made to the Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 205 Russell Street, Winters, CA 95694, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
