Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net January 7, 2005, 9:51 pm "Winters Express," Thursday, November 25, 2004 Julia Machado Carrion Julia Machado Carrion passed away at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at age 85. Mrs. Carrion was born March 17, 1919 in Winters at Sky High Ranch in the Olive District. She was a Woodland resident and a former Arbuckle resident. As a young girl she loved to read and take long walks. She collected glass birds and dolls as a hobby. She enjoyed her yard, with many camellias and roses. Julia married John R. Carrion, Jr. of Winters on Sept. 26, 1941. She worked at Mare Island during World War II as a riveter with her sister Connie. From there, they moved to Arbuckle, where they farmed almonds for many years. Later she took a job at the Arbuckle School District until she retired, at which time they moved to Woodland. She was very active in Eastern Star and the Rebekahs, which she enjoyed very much. She is survived by her sons Allen Carrion and his wife, Barbara, of Arbuckle, and Richard Carrion, of Sacramento; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Carmen Borden, of Vacaville, Toni Ishtertz, of Woodland and Marian Kammerer, of Winters; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carrion, Jr. and her sisters, Frances Ramos, Mary Ramos, Lola Ramos and Connie Azuar. Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 21. A funeral was held on Monday, Nov. 22, at Arbuckle Methodist Church. Interment followed at the Arbuckle Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
