Stout Robert "Bob" Walter Stout, a former Davis resident, died from respiratory failure at Kaiser Hospital on March 3, 2004 in Santa Rosa. He was 73. The first child of longtime UC Davis professor Perry Robert Stout and Mabel Stout, he was born in Berkeley July 22, 1930. He spent most of his childhood in Berkeley, except for three years during World War II spent in Cambridge, Mass., and Washington, D.C. He served as a U.S. Navy meterologist on Guam during the Korean War. After his military service he graduated from UCLA with a degree in mathematics. He then began a career as a systems analyst and programer for various companies from San Diego to Seattle. A career highlight was writing code for some of the first satellite tracking networks. He spent several years in Davis during the mid-1970s. After retiring, he explored his strong interest in Christian theology and fulfilled his dream of making a trip to Israel. Survivors include his daughter, Kristin Milio and her husband, Ron, of El Granada; son Mark and his wife, Brigitte, three grandsons, Erik, Julien and Karl, all of Montreal, Canada; brother Norman Stout of Walnut Creek; sisters Carol Carroll of Fresno and Marilyn Stout Milhous of Ft. Collins, Colo.; cousins Lynda King and Denise King of Davis; and many nieces, nephews and other cousins. A memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Hope Chapel, 5680 Sonoma Hwy., in Santa Rosa.
