Mr. Harvey enlisted in the U.S. Air Force two days after graduating from high school, with a dream of becoming a pilot. His dream finally became a reality when he graduated from flight training in September 1961. After Basic Training, he was sent to Burtonwood Air Base in England. While there, Dave met Shelby Jean Bontye at chapel choir practice. They were married on Dec. 28, 1955 in Massachusetts. He taught for 12 years in Yolo and Solano county schools before retiring in 1992. Mr. Harvey was active in the Pioneer Presbyterian Church and then the Church of Christ. He was on the Winters Planning Commission, a member of the Yolo County Grand Jury 1994-95 and assisted his wife extensively with her many activities and duties as a Girl Scout Leader and Leader Trainer.
