Hull Longtime Davis resident Marie Adeline Hull died June 30, 2004, at the Courtyard Health Care Center. She was 76. She was the 11th child born to the late John and Adeline (Collett) Matheson on Oct. 10, 1927, in Nore, Minn. She attended school in Minnesota and later moved to California. She met her husband, Rolland, in Stockton and they were married on Sept. 2, 1950. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this September. In 1966, the couple moved to Davis and opened Hull's Jewelers in downtown Davis. Marie loved working alongside her husband and often commented what a joy it was to work in such a happy business where they could be a part of special events in other people's lives. After many years of being in business together, they retired in 1994. She was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church for many years where she served on the altar guild and was a wedding coordinator. She was a member of the El Macero Republican Women where she served as treasurer. She enjoyed spending time at home and in her gardens, hosting family get-togethers, visiting with her grandchildren, vacationing in Carmel, taking leisurely drives along the coast to watch the sea otters play, dancing, and eating fresh crab and an occasional ice cream cone. "Marie was devoted to her family and was a wonderful role model for her children and grandchildren," her family says. "She had a heartwarming smile and a kind, gentle nature. She will be deeply missed." She is survived by her husband, Rolland; her daughter, Gwenn Childers and her husband Brian of Woodland; her son, Greg Hull and his wife Kelly of Davis; three grandchildren, Amanda Cadman and her family of Petaluma, and Rollie and Glenn Hull of Davis; and two brothers, Ralph Matheson and Maurice Matheson of Northome, Minn. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Respecting her wishes, no services were held. Memorial donations may be sent to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617 or the Alzheimer's Association, 530 Bercut Drive, Suite A, Sacramento, CA 95814. The family would like to thank Dr. Roxanne Sanders, the staff at Courtyard Health Care Center and Yolo Hospice for their kindness, help and support.
