María Elena 'Nená' Ruiz

María Elená "Nena" Ruiz died in UC Davis Medical Center Sunday, June 27, 2004,
at age 41.

Born Oct. 7, 1962, in Purépero, Michoacán, México, she had been a 41-year
Woodland resident. She was a 1981 Woodland High School graduate. She was
employed in the Tercero Dining Commons at UC Davis.

Survivors include her son, Héctor Ruiz; parents, Rafael and Guadalupe (Reyes)
Ruiz, all of Woodland. Also surviving are her sisters, Lupe Lepe and husband
Enrique of Madison, Rosario Dark and husband Christopher, Teresa Ruiz; brothers,
Sergio Ruiz and wife María, Rafael Ruiz Jr. and wife Alejandra, all of Woodland;
nieces, Ariana, Lisset and Jazmin Lepe, Angélica and Veronica Dark, and Cecilia
Ruiz; and nephew, Ismael Ruiz.

McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Services: Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at McNary's
Chapel. A rosary is scheduled to be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Holy
Rosary Catholic Church. A Mass is scheduled to be said at 10 a.m. Friday, July
2, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
