Regin Patricia "Pat" Ann (Wenke) Regin died Dec. 23, 2003, in Vallejo, following a lengthy illness. She was 75. She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Olean, N.Y., the daughter of Peter and Mary (Nolder) Wenke. She grew up and attended schools in Olean, surrounded by six brothers and a large extended family. In April 1947, she married Edward Regin. The couple had five daughters. In 1963 they moved to Goleta, where she worked for William Loud and, later, for Frazee Paint. She was divorced in 1971. In 1980 she moved to Ukiah, remaining there until her retirement from B & B Industrial Hardware in 1990. She then moved to Anacortes, Wash., where she delivered newsletters for the senior center and escorted many residents of Harbor House, a senior community, to appointments and shopping. At Harbor House she met her longtime companion, Eugene Johnston, whom she loved dearly. Patricia was known for her dedication to her family, whom she loved and valued above all else. She was, her family said, the utmost a grandma could be - attending her grandchildren's birthday celebrations, graduations and sporting events and playing card and board games on overnight stays with them. She never missed an opportunity to show off her great-grandchildren and grandchildren to friends and neighbors. Her friends admired her for her love of life and her acceptance of those around her. Her family said they would always remember her warm smile and beautiful laugh. In 2003 she came to Davis to be close to family. She remained here, in the care of her grandson, Mark Lawton, until November, when she moved into the Mariposa Center in Vacaville. She was preceded in death by brothers John, William and Steve Wenke. She is survived by her daughters, Eileen Robblee of Fort Bragg, Carol Lawton and her husband John of Napa, Gail Niemcyk and her husband Dennis of Newcastle, Wyo., Joyce Terry and her husband Mike of Soledad, and Nancy Snyder of Carson City, Nev.; brothers, Paul, Loren and Rob Wenke, all of Olean; grandchildren, Mark Lawton of Davis, Eric Lawton of Hanford, Michelle Richelieus of Salem, Ore., Nicole Taylor of Newcastle, Wayne Comer of Phoenix, Ariz., Amy Adams of Newcastle, Briana Terry of Tustin, Sommer Lawton of San Diego, Meagan Niemcyk of Fort Bragg, Bryce Terry of Anacortes, Holly Snyder of Carson City; and great-grandchildren, Kenzi, Morgan, Madison, Maya, Alaina, Kai, Luke and Gabe. A memorial Mass was held Jan. 17 at St. John's Church in Olean. Her ashes were placed in a family plot in Olean. A memorial celebration of her life will begin at noon Saturday at 1080 Trinita Terrace in Davis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation (Attn: Grants and Contributions), 1236 Ginger Crescent, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.
