Kelleher Daniel John Kelleher, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died July 9, 2004, in Sacramento with his family by his side. Born in Klamath Falls, July 15, 1936, he was a lifetime resident of the Klamath Basin until moving to Davis in 2003. Dan graduated from Tulelake High School and Oregon State University, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He married Patricia Schwabenland in 1960. He went on to earn a Masters degree in history from the University of Oregon. For 10 years following college, he taught history, social studies and other subjects at Henley High School while also helping work the family farm and sheep operation. He then turned to full-time farming of the Tulelake land that his parents homesteaded in 1927. He served as President of the Tulelake Growers Association and on the Board of Directors of Lutheran Family Services. He also served several years in the National Guard. Dan pursued a life-time passion for learning and education, never missing an opportunity to expand or share his wealth of knowledge. He was an active member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with his family and friends. Dan is survived by and will be greatly missed by Pat, his loving wife of 43 years, children Katherine Kelleher-McGreevy, Mary Nicholson, and John Kelleher; sons-in-law Dan McGreevy and Jeff Nicholson; grandchildren Ted, Anna and Bradley Nicholson; sisters Mary Ann Baer and Helen Pieser, as well as many close friends and relatives. A Rosary was said on Tuesday, July 13, and a Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 14, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Tulelake.
