Denkers Sr. of Davis died Dec. 11, 2003, after a battle with cancer. He was 77. He was born in San Francisco Aug. 19, 1926, to Edith Seymour and Jacob P. Denkers. He grew up in Los Angeles, where he attended Fremont High School and served as student body president. He served in the infantry in World War II, then in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Stanford in 1949 and went on to work for Standard Oil Company for 29 years. He and his wife, Kathleen, retired to Davis in 1979. He loved his family, garden, music, and computers. He taught "kindergarten computer class" to seniors at UC Davis for several years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen, his sons, David and Dirk, and three grandchildren, Bethany, Kenna, and Dane. At the request of the deceased, no services will be held.
